Hans Fahden Cabernet Sauvignon Mountain Cuvee
USA
Hans and Marie Fahden, natives of Hamburg, Germany, purchased this property in 1912. They were hard workers, who farmed the land growing grapes and then prunes, when Prohibition was passed in 1920. In 1980, Antone and Lyall Fahden, the third generation owners of the property, decided they liked Cabernet sauvignon better than prunes. A journey began once again to replant vines. The Fahden vineyards and winery consists of 100 acres, located at an elevation of 1200ft., in a range of the Mayacamus Mountains above Calistoga. The Fahden family produces an estate grown Cabernet sauvignon from 20 acres of vineyards. Early vintages were huge, tannic blockbusters that took years to develop. HFMC99 HFMC99
