Verrdicchio Passito - Tordiruta
Gambero Rosso is the prestigious Italian guide to the country's finest wines. Out of the thousands of wines that they review each year, about 100 to 120 receive there "Tre Bicchieri" (3 glasses) award. The "Tordiruta" of Terre Cortesi is one of those privileged wines. The Verdicchio grapes for this wine are late-harvested and then left to dry to raisins on trellises for 10 weeks (= "passito"). The rich juice is fermented and then aged in small oak barriques for one year and in bottle another year before release.
