Wunsch and Mann - Tokay - Pinot Gris
The Wunsch and Mann families integrated their holdings in Alsace in 1948, creating the Wunsch & Mann estate, currently run by Jean Louis Mann who is also a chief enologist. The estate is nestled into the Voges mountains behind the village of Wettolsheim with vistas onto the medieval Hohlandbourg Castle, guarding the entrance to the valley. The Pinot gris grape (Pinot grigio) is known to make some of the best wines of Alsace, and is known locally as "Tokay", although it has no connection with the Hungarian wine of the same name. This 2000 Tokay has wonderful aromas of overripe pears and white flowers with some slightly smoky overtones. WAP03 WAP03
